Screening for ADEs

Idaho State University College of Pharmacy is starting a new program to engage pharmacy interns in quality improvement.

Students will be screening patients for adverse drug events (ADEs) related to use of opioids, anti-diabetic agents and anticoagulants. These screens will help engage patients by encouraging open discussion of potential effects of their medications with a pharmacist. The process also includes structured feedback to prescribers to inform them of any issues that are identified.

Is anyone using an ADE screening tool in your community? Have you used any of the resources collected on our website?
