What is QI?

Quality improvement (QI) is a formal means of analyzing performance and making systematic changes in order to increase both the quality and predictability of an outcome.

Historically, this approach has been used in the manufacturing sector but in recent years has also been applied to healthcare. In medical practice, the focus is on preventing medical errors, morbidity, and mortality.

A working understanding of QI's fundamental concepts can help you successfully start or maintain quality improvement initiatives within your organization.
